Where did the name Scarlet Reagan come from?

The person Scarlet Reagan is my daughter. She's 12. She's a mini me, only way better. I knew what I was trying to build would take way longer than my lifetime. Plus, it just sounded right.

What is your professional background?

For 20+ years, I've enjoyed life as a professional artist, but as I hustled and paid my dues, I gained lots of other relevant experience. I've worked my tail off in these fields:

interior design (commercial and residential)
set design, prop stylist, art director for shoots (TV and print)
designed custom furniture and home accessories
lived the ad agency life on the account side
owned a little shop as a revived antiques dealer
creative director
product designer/inventor
photography assistant
marketing consultant
and I waited tables in college at a comedy club (so fun!)

What kinds of things do you customize?

Everything. The answer to everything is yes. We obviously specialize in custom oil paintings, but we also create custom art prints (getting the dimensions just right for your space, the cropping of the creative, and the custom framing). In addition to custom art of all types, I've been designing custom furniture, throw pillows and other home accessories for more than 20 years. We custom design wall paper, textiles, or anything in your life that that should balance not only form and function, but comfort and usability.

How do you choose what to sell in your store?

I have a simple buying philosophy: I only sell what I hope to get stuck with. Every single thing in my store is a treasure. And those who tune in, get it.

What's next for Scarlet Reagan?

We are growing fast. And we will continue to scale doing what we've been doing for 20 years- providing art and home designs for a well curated space:

Tell us a little about your family.

I struck gold with our four kids. My son's name is Dallas. He's a brilliant, creative, kind young man who I fully expect will be working with Elon Musk someday to change the world for the better. Scarlet (where the name of the store came from) is a born creative director and the youngest. Her vision, wisdom and independence wow me. I met my other two amazing daughters, Gabrielle and Tyleigh, in 2014. Gabrielle is a vibrant, loyal future CEO. She's a social butterfly - she brings the party. And Tyleigh is a witty old soul and creative strategizer, on track to rule the fashion industry someday. She has vision and the gift of discernment. My husband, Terrence- he and I fit together like two halves of a zipper. He's a doer, which I value enormously. He's a mad scientist at the grill. Plus he's hilarious, tolerates and encourages me, and forces fun on us all.
